Job Overview

The Patient Care Assistant provides supportive services to the patients and units as directed by the nursing staff and health unit coordinators.

 

This is a week-day Monday-Friday position  

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients to affiliate-Mass. General (direct connecting tunnel access)
  • Taking patient's vital signs; assist patient with dressing/undressing; also responsible for grooming, bathing and cream/scar massage as appropriate to the patient
  • Assist nursing staff with patient feedings
  • Ensuring each unit is well stocked with the needed supplies daily
  • Cleans and prepares reusable patient items and equipment
  • Transports specimens to hospital laboratories
  • Transports patients to affiliate-MGH (direct connecting tunnel access)
  • Back up to the Health Unit Coordinator; assisting with telephone coverage as needed

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent. Certified Nursing Certification is required.

Previous pediatric experience in a hospital or medical setting required.
