Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Advanced Practice Professional to join our small clinical team in a PRN role for our Shreveport, Louisiana location.  The ideal candidate will embrace a variety of tasks which may include Clinic coverage, Operating Room, Orthopaedics, and Cleft Lip and Palate.  

Responsibilities

The certified nurse practitioner (CNP) provides care that requires knowledge and skills obtained from advanced formal education and clinical experience.  The CNP, in collaboration with the physicians and interdisciplinary team, may provide preventive, acute, specialized and primary care services to patients consistent with the nurse’s education and certification.  Services provided by the CNP may include, but are not limited to the following:

1) assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of identified health needs;

2) ordering and interpretation of diagnostic and/or laboratory tests;

3) formulating, documenting, and monitoring treatment plans;

4) routine wound or post-operative dressing management;

5) ordering interdisciplinary consults; 

6) ordering pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and/or interventions;

7) assisting with minor clinic procedures and operating room minor and major surgical procedures;

8) assisting in the evaluation and workup of the patient, conferring with physician on treatment and follow up; and

9) inpatient hospital ward management for patients, assisting with admissions, inpatient care/rounds, and discharges

Qualifications

Education

MSN-NP 

 

Certification/Licensure

RN in state of practice

 

Experience

Two years' RN experience required, two years' Pediatric RN experience preferred

First Assist experience a plus

Orthopaedic experience preferred

 

Other

Current full vaccination status required

 

Hours of the position vary based upon clinic needs, but range Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
