Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Full-Time Health Unit Coordinator (Ward Clerk) to assist with weekday and weekend Inpatient Unit needs as well as intake of new patients.  

 

This position is full time, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $18.00/hour - $22.50/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities

The Health Unit Coordinator I assists the inpatient nursing staff by performing clerical duties and other related work, which includes but not limited to answering the telephone, maintaining supplies, copying and filing documents, scheduling appointments, performing errands and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum two (2) years experience as a health unit coordinator in an acute care setting preferred.

 

Knowledge of medical terminology. Completion of a medical terminology course is desirable. Strong computer skills. Strong verbal and writing skills.

Requires attention to detail and concentration associated with computer data entry, alertness and concentration in answering telephones and relaying messages, calculating for compiling monthly statistics of consultations and lab work, initiative to anticipate needs of unit's admission packs, etc.
