Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  Shriners Children's is looking for a Senior Regional Director, Planned & Major Giving-West Region to report into our Corporate Philanthropy Planned & Major Giving Department.

 

The Senior Regional Director, Planned & Major Giving-West Region is responsible for seeking out opportunities and developing and implementing strategies to identify, cultivate and solicit prospects and donors in support of Shriners Children’s mission to bring specialty pediatric healthcare to children, regardless of the families’ ability to pay. The Senior Regional Director will work in the West Region of the country to cultivate Planned & Major Giving donors, and will work in cooperation with the Executive Director, Planned and Major Giving to develop and execute annual plans for securing major and planned gift support.  The expected annual fundraising goal for this position is a minimum of $2 million annually. 
 
The West Region consists of AZ, CA, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY.  Frequent regional and national travel estimated at 20% - 25% is required for this role.
 
The pay range for this position is $101,460-$126,825/annually. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and help establish a strategic gift solicitation plan for generating Planned and Major gifts from high level prospects and donors.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gift donors including initiating and making personal visits, telephone communications and sending written communications as requested.  Conduct face-to-face meetings with donors as appropriate.
  • Conduct prospect research to estimate financial capacity and organizational/mission affinity.
  • Meet with planned and major giving prospects/current donors and/or their advisors, present financial illustrations of proposed gifts and draft gift agreements for review by prospects/Donors and/or their advisors. (All proposals, illustrations and any other documents must be previously approved by the Home office).
  • Acquisition of new planned and major giving donors for Shriners Children's.
  • Follow procedures for tracking qualified prospects/donors for reporting and tracking gifts. This would include all donor and prospect records involving all activities to be maintained in the Shriners Children's data base.
  • Establish and maintain a donor cultivation cycle and gift stewardship program to ensure new planned and major donors are developed, have opportunities to increase their level of support annually, and enjoy a close relationship with Shriners Hospitals for Children.
  • Prepare written materials, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements, and regular communications as part of the stewardship program.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with all of the Shriners Children's development team. Promote a positive atmosphere within the location development offices, working cooperatively with all Development Directors and Senior Regional Directors to help locations and their development offices’ attain their overall financial goals. Provide effective training, mentoring, and leadership to all hospital based Development Directors/ Senior Regional Directors in the areas of planned and major giving by being a solid partner.
  • Ensures that all planned and major giving donors receive appropriate, consistent recognition and an accounting of the impact that their gift has on the work of Shriners Children's.

Qualifications

Experience Required:
  • 5 years of fundraising experience required
  • Demonstrable and documented success securing 5-figure and 6-figure planned and major gifts from individual donors required
  • Experience building new relationships while managing competing deadlines required
  • Strong understanding of finance required
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required
 
Experience Preferred:
  • Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge a plus
