Job Overview

Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for a Hospitalist (Full Time, Part Time, and Part Time Occasional).  Join a team of professionals committed to improving children's lives.  Our top healthcare professionals excel in their practices and provide compassionate, family-centered care to children who need it most.  Hours:   Opportunities exist for Full Time, Part Time and Part Time Occasional. These are twelve (12) hour shifts for staffing on evenings/nights, weekends and holidays. 

Responsibilities

*  Provide professional pediatric hospitalist services on-site for all patients admitted, under observation, or evaluated within the Hospital.

*  Serve as the first responding physician to all hospital emergencies for all patients during the Provider's twelve (12) hour shift and provide any emergency services needed within the scope of Provider's practice.

*  Coordinate non-emergency care, as needed, and consult with the appropriate on-call service i.e., orthopaedics, plastics, etc. for further direction.

*  Maintain effective communications regarding current status and treatment plan for all inpatients with the incoming team at the end of the Provider's twelve (12) hour shift. A daily progess note and status report are expected for all patients.

*  Remain on the Hospital premises for the Provider's entire twelve (12) hour shift.

*  Provide services for no more than thirty-six (36) hours in any given week. 

*  Provider cannot be on-call, or provide any other services aside from those listed above, simultaneously under any other arrangement during the Provider's twelve (12) hour shift. This includes any existing agreement between SHC and any other entity that employs or contracts with the Provider separately to provide services to SHC. 

 

This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Medical Doctor or Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine

Preferred:

  • 5+ years experience
  • Pediatric Experience
  • Hospitalist Board Certified
