Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a Project Manager, Planning & Business Development reporting into our Corporate Headquarters.

 

The Project Manager, Planning & Business Development is responsible for overseeing the successful completion of system strategic planning initiatives - primarily, the transition of sites to new models of care, facilities related projects and enterprise wide proposals that affect the various locations. This includes the evaluation of the approved plan, development and implementation of project timeline and budget, creation of a critical path and ongoing status reporting and management. Under direction of the Vice President of Planning and Business Development, he / she will collaborate with the Executive Management Team, departmental directors and managers, medical staff, team members, hospital leadership and community agencies as defined by specific role responsibilities. The Project Manager will also provide leadership and oversight to the project team(s) in meeting the targeted goals and objectives of the project or program, and will promote project implementation to organizational leaders, medical staff aand team members.

Responsibilities

Critical Thinking

  • Demonstrates creativity and innovation in developing strategic directions
  • Translates vision into strategies with clear objectives and practical action plans providing clear guidelines for meeting goals
  • Demonstrates a long-term view of where the department is going and integrates this view with vision
  • Comes to decisions in a timely manner
  • Orchestrates the pace and process of change to maintain operating effectiveness

 

Financial Management & Planning

  • Plans new capital equipment needs, and projected budget (including staffing) in collaboration with senior management, participating in facility planning as required
  • Identifies cost containment strategies related to project, and recommends and implements changes accordingly

 

Project Consultation, Quality Improvement, Service Line Coordination

  • Serves as consultant to senior management in the identification and triaging of needs within the organization, and in the evaluation of potential projects and programs
  • Collaborates with senior management to appoint a steering committee and operating to oversee project and program development; manages those meetings including agendas, materials and overall facilitation
  • Creates long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones, adhering to deadlines and allocating resources
  • Utilizes a variety of methods to gain targeted project information, i.e. accessing decision support tools for data analysis, conducting interviews and focus groups, completing literature searches, researching industry standards, networking within the industry
  • Provides the basis for steering committee decision, making available, through the presentation and analysis of data, all information related to the project
  • Collaborates with senior management to establish project goals and objectives aligned with goals, and the strategic plans of the organization
  • Establishes and manages targeted timeline for project development and implementation
  • Identifies and communicates risks in a timely manner to necessary stakeholders
  • Leads projects and facilitates problem solving and prompt decision-making during the project's development and implementation
  • Acts as a mentor to committee members and team members in supporting changes resulting from project implementation
  • Manages project progress, and provides status reports to senior management and other key stakeholders
  • Evaluates, develops and implements projects and programs based on the goals of the health system
  • Leads the project team in establishing the project's goals and analyzes outcomes and develops plan to improve goals
  • Monitors goals and reports effectiveness to the VP of Planning and Business Development
  • Acts as project or program representative and provides input at designated medical staff committee meetings as required
  • Works with VP of Planning and Business Development to develop and implement Special Projects Goals and Objectives
  • Ensures adequate communication is provided throughout the project lifecycle to all key stakeholders
  • Develops and presents project status to Joint Board members, as required
  • Develops and implements service development plans in alignment with strategic directions and goals

Qualifications

Experience Required:

  • 3 years of healthcare setting experience
  • 3 years of project management experience
  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project)
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Current PMP certification

 

Experience Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in related field
