Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team.

Responsibilities

The LPN is accountable for providing care for pediatric patient's ages infant to 21 years. Works as an advocate for patient and families in a collaborative effort with the multidisciplinary team. Works to achieve quality outcomes using a family centered care philosophy. Performs professional nursing service for patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and within the scope, ethics, and standards of practice.
Performs routine and clinical tasks, obtains patient information, removal of casts and assists with other minor outpatient procedures. Takes measurements and vital sign of patients and documents in the computer. Performs clerical tasks including correspondence, appointment notices, coping, filing and other duties as assigned.Performs nursing interventions in accordance with the outpatient clinic standards of care and LPN practice guidelines.


• Supports the plan of care to provide continuity of care.

• Assists physicians, nursing and other health care professional with procedures, the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents findings during the intake process in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

• Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic interventions, integration of services and continuity of patient care.
• Initiates and participates in consultative and collaborative relationships to enhance patient care.
• Listens to the ideas and opinions of others, demonstrates sensitivity, respect, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions.
• Demonstrates effective verbal communication by presenting a positive and polite demeanor at all times, apply excellent telephone communication skills to foster quality care.
• Expresses and receives constructive feedback with focus on positive outcomes.
• Demonstrates respect for the dignity and privacy of each patient/family. Demonstrates sensitivity to the various ethnic and cultural differences.
• Maintains confidentiality concerning patient/hospital/employee information.

Qualifications

Licensure and Certification

LPN License in state of practice required

BLS within 30 days
