Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a Surgery Schedule to join our team in our Spokane location. The Spokane facility specailizes in pediatric orthopedic care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains current Wait List using the MR-57 and the admission queue.
  • Maintains Wait List in binder, sorting by physicial and date wait-listed.
  • Works with Care Coordination, Inpatient Manager and Surgery Team Leader to assign a date for surgery for each patient in order of their wait-list date unless surgery is of an emergent nature. 
  • Schedules dates and times for anciallary appointments, i.e. x-ray, rehab, respiratory therapy, as assigned. 
  • Notifies patient and family of admission date and time by mail and notifies Care Coordination and Surgery Team Leader. 
  • Schedules appointments in electronic medical software as assigned.
  • Sorts scheduled surgeries by date scheduled and prepares schedules for scheduling meeting. 
  • Communicates with Rehab (physical therapy, speech language & occupational therapy depts.) effectively under the direction of Inpatient Manager, Surgery Team Leader and Outpatient Manager referring physicians to them for any changes or scheduling consideration.
  • Manages the scheduling for sports medicine physical therapy
  • Answers all related phone calls
  • Collects insurance and makes changes as appropriatly
  • Works closely in a team environment with the Rehab Department
  • Coordinates physical therapy appointments with the clinic physicians

 

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma/GED required; and

2. 1 (one) year of scheduling, registration and insurance verification preferred; and

3. 1 (one) year of experience as a Medical Secretary preferred.

 

Other

(Pay range for this position is $18.36/hr - $27.54/hr. The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education).
