Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We currently have an opening for a Full-Time Computer Tech (IT) to join our team.

 

Responsible for performing technical duties of the IS Department. Acts as the support tech for hospital departments' hardware and software needs. Assists with end user training of personal computers, software suites and network utilization techniques. The Computer Technician of Information Services may be required to perform other related duties and activities.

Responsibilities

 
• Assembly of hardware components, installation of and configuration of adapters and peripherals including printers, monitors, disks, scanners, memory and adapter boards.
 
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and to work in conjunction with Corporate IS support staff where necessary to resolve hardware and network problems.
 
• Responsible for loading and configuration of software, application of software patches and performing troubleshooting activities.
 
• Responsible for end user training of personal computers, software suites and proper network utilization techniques. Provides assistance to users via HELP desk and responds to needs of users.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma/GED required

Certificate in Computer Science required

 

Experience

1 Year related work experience required

3 Years related work experience preferred 

 

Job Knowledge / Skills: Familiar with the network environment and have a strong knowledge of the desktop computer applications. Familiar with installing and upgrading hardware and software. Experienced in maintenance and troubleshooting. Knowledge of current Windows operating systems, networks and major software packages. Language Skills: Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from users, regulatory agencies, or members of the hospital community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups and / or board of directors. Mathematical Skills: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. (Pay range for this position is $24.09/hr - $36.13/hr. The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education).
