Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for an on-call Recrational Therapist to join our Recreation Therapy and Rehabilitation team.

 

This position is per diem (on call), non-exempt and benefits eligible.  The pay range for this position is $24.56/hour - $30.70/hour.  Compensation is determined by years of experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities

As a part of the interdisciplinary team, the Recreational Therapist provides individual therapeutic recreation services and group recreation programs for children and adolescents hospitalized for orthopedic surgical intervention or long term rehabilition programs.  In this position, you'll provide abudnant play and normal life experiences to promote development, understanding and to alleviate misconceptions to allow an opportunity for positive growth experiences by the patient.  This position is also responsible for supervising student interns and volunteers as well as orienting new students and volunteers to the department including assignment of duties.  

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors degree preferred

 

Certification/Licensure

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS for HCP) certification by or recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.  
  • Valid Driver License.  

 

Skills

  • Minimum one (1) year in an acute care setting, preferably in a pediatric orthopedic hospital.  Experience supervising students and volunteers preferred.
  • Bilingual speaking is a plus.
