The wheelchair specialist (physical therapist) will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (physicians, vendors, wheelchair technicians, care coordinators, etc.) to provide the highest quality care to the patient and family. Specifically this position will be working within a dedicated wheelchair, seating and positioning program. In this position, you will provide physical therapy services for a variety of pediatric diagnoses for patients from infants through adolescents or young adults.
Patient Care:
Direct patient care including: Evaluation, plan of care, treatment, and documentation
Evaluation:
Perform patient evaluations to include subjective information, objective information, synthesize an assessment statement, and create a patient/family centered plan of care that is unique to the patient’s seating and positioning needs.
Plan of Care:
Create patient specific therapeutic dosing, including frequency and duration, for
delivery, fit, and ongoing care of the patient and seating and positioning system.
Treatment:
Perform patient centered treatment including, but not limed to:
Specific treatment protocols, per the plan of care, pertaining to seating and positioning.
Provide specific seating and positioning education to the patient and family.
Provide patient and family options for various available seating and positioning systems.
Provide the most appropriate seating and positioning system for the patient.
Write letters of medical necessity to justify all components of the seating and
Positioning system
Documentation:
Perform patient specific documentation of evaluation and treatment sessions in accordance with Utah state practice act specifications while taking into consideration unique payer requirements.
Education
Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy required
Certification/Licensure
licensed in state of practice required (UT)
Skills
2 years physical therapy experience preferred
Seating and mobility technology experience preferred
Pediatric experience preferred
Other
