Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a full time Cafeteria Department Assistant to join our team. 

Responsibilities

Not your typical hospital cafeteria! Shriners Children's Greenville offers a colorful, upbeat and fun work environment. As a member of our Nutrition Services team, you will be key in the success of creative daily meals for patients, families and staff as well as special event catering.  

The Department Assistant supports the team through performing functions such as:

  • Acts as department liaison to get patient meal orders as per prescribed diets and reports patient food orders to cooks with any special instructions needed
  • Prepare patient and family meals and provide support to serving line during lunch service
  • Accurate monthly reporting of meal counts
  • Enters food orders for vendors at the direction of the Director
  • Orders paper goods and office supplies
  • Assists in planning and implementation of catered events
  • Checks use by dates for food and records list of first foods to be used
  • Ensures all stock areas are kept neat and clean and meet all food safety requirements
  • Other duties as assigned  

The successful candidate will be available to work on weekdays from 10:00am to 6:30pm and will also work every other weekend.

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma required 

Skills and Experience

At least 1 year working in a food service environment

Work at a pace consistent with the changing volumes and demands

Strong customer service skills

Strong written & verbal communication skills

Ability to interact with patients and families

Must be able to lift, walk, stand, stoop, and reach

 

Preferred

Experience working in an administrative role

Experience with Microsoft Suite of products
