Job Overview

We have a PRN opportunity for a Philanthropy Assistant to join the Office of Philanthropy reporting into our Facility Philanthropy Department and located at our Shreveport, Louisiana location.

 

Sharing in the mission of Shriners Children’s, the Philanthropy Assistant is responsible for administrative operations of the philanthropy department, gift processing, donor acknowledgment, and donor database management. This position reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropy.

 

**This is a PRN position. This position will average approximately 15 hours per week, but hours will vary depending on need.  Hours can be on weekdays between 8AM and 5PM CT.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Senior Director of Philanthropy in the fulfillment of departmental duties, including: generation of annual tactical plans and monthly status reports; budget preparation; expense reporting; travel and meeting coordination; calendar management and overall data management.
  • Assists philanthropy team with large mailings, preparation of donor packets, tracking of donor recognitions and meeting coordination and file maintenance.
  • Prepares and scans incoming donations to lockbox and manages the daily acknowledgment letter process for all donations, tribute gifts, pledges, letters of intent, and donor stewardship/recognition.
  • Assists philanthropy team members and volunteer solicitors with individual donor prospect identification, research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. This includes developing stewardship relationships with select donors and volunteers.
  • Assists Office of Philanthropy in maintaining cooperative relationships with affiliated Shrine Temples, Shrine Clubs, and local community support groups for philanthropic support.
  • Supports the philanthropy team in the planning and execution of major donor cultivation meetings, luncheons, and events.
  • Supports various other departmental meetings, including: date and location scheduling; communication; attendance tracking; agenda; meeting material and presentation preparation; logistics coordination; meeting minutes recording and distribution; and follow-up activities.
  • Assists philanthropy team with event promotions, check presentations, conducting and assisting with hospital tours, etc.

Qualifications

Experience Required/Preferred:

  • Minimum 1 year of administrative experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a high comfort level and maturity to communicate with donors from all lifestyles by phone, email, and face-to-face, required
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint required
  • Skilled in mail merging of documents and data clean up in Excel required, can provide training
  • Ability to easily pick up and be trained on cloud based applications for prospect research, online giving, email campaign platform and digital asset management required
  • Must have a positive outlook with a team-player mentality with willingness to support other location staff as necessary and comfortable working independently when necessary with high integrity work ethic required
  • Must be comfortable with speaking with donors and prospects by phone, email and in person with a polished and professional manner required
  • Nonprofit fundraising experience including working with donors and volunteers preferred
  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM, Raiser’s Edge or other database system preferred.

 

Education Required/Preferred:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Associates degree preferred but not required or comparable experience.
