Job Overview

Shriners Children’s, the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center, has an opportunity for a per diem Clinical Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team.

 

This position is per diem (on call), non-exempt and benefits eligible.  The pay range for this position is $53.40/hour - $76.30/hour.  Compensation is based on years of experience and departmental equity.  

 

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the distribution of drugs and pharmaceutical care to patients in compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations and in accordance with the overall patient care plan.  Provides appropriate drug education to staff, patients and parents.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Checking and assuring all medication orders are entered into the medical record system accurately and timely,
  • Verifying that all medications are appropriate for the patient.
  • Identifying and anticipating treatment-induced problems and adverse drug reactions, documenting problems and reactions, developing monitoring parameters, and recommending therapeutic resolutions.
  • Ensuring an appropriate supply of drugs and pharmaceutical preparations and equipment are available to meet current and projected patient needs at all times.
  • Maintaining an effective narcotic control system with accurate records as required by state and federal laws.
  • Performing accurate, safe and appropriate compounding of oral medications and IV admixtures in accordance with best practice guidelines.  
  • Demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide population specific care, which includes primarily pediatrics.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of Pharmacy.   Doctorate in Pharmacy is preferred
  • Current Pharmacy License in the State of Hawaii required
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS for HCP) recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Minimum one (1) year full-time work experience in pediatric or related clinical setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience (residency or fellowship) preferred.
