Job Overview

To provide distributive, clinical, consultative, and research pharmaceutical services in a pediatric burn, orthopedic, and rehabilitation hospital; to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

 

This position is per diem, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $78.00 - $110.0/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.  Shift flexibility is required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the appropriate technique is used to prepare medications to be dispensed for patient administration
  • Accepts, verifies, and transmits written, verbal, telephone, or computer-entered prescription orders from prescribers.
  • Screens all prescriptions and drug orders for appropriateness (i.e.- drug, dosage form, dose, indication, route, and incompatibilities,).
  • Compounds or fills and dispenses medications in compliance with institutional standards, laws, and accepted standard of practice. When a technician or intern is involved in the process, independently calculates or evaluates the dose and checks the accuracy of contents of all ingredients (including syringes) and the final product.
  • Assists in the supervision and instruction of volunteers, technicians, intern pharmacists, and colleagues.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and Pharmacy and Therapeutics related committees (i.e. Assists in drug utilization reviews, target drug programs, formulary revision, quality assurance, and development of guidelines and protocols for drug use.).
  • Maintains and documents services and records as required by law, including workload statistics, narcotic inventory and control, and nursing unit inspection records.

Qualifications

3 Years (inpatient and outpatient) Preferred
3 Years Pediatric Critical Care, Surgical or Orthopedic Preferred

 

Pharmacy license in CA Required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Required within 6 months
