Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a Music Therapist to join our team as a per diem. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients to achieve and maintain maximum levels of functioning in the areas of physical, cognitive and socio-emotional health while promoting principals of family centered care.
  • Develops age specific and culturally appropriate treatment plans based on standards of therapy and individual needs.  
  • You will work with patients and the interdisciplinary team providing co-treatment, procedural support and individualized therapeutic interventions. 
  • Provides services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Position requires strong skills in assessment and planning, psychosocial support, procedural support and goal directed play.
  • Collaborate with teams across the hospital to provide a continuum of care.  
  • Reviews medical care through hospital play/music or discussion with patient/family 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Requirements: 3-5 years of experience as Music Therapist. Graduate of accredited degree program in Music Therapy. Current National Certification in Music Therapy.

 

The Per DiemMusic Therapist

 

  • Will be available for one shift in a four week time period.
  • Will be available for one weekend shift in a six week time period (Inpatient Units).
  • Will be available for one major summer and winter holiday from the following (Inpatient Units):

July 4th

Labor Day

Thanksgiving

Christmas

New Years

  • It is an expectation that in order to maintain per diem status, one must keep all annual competencies up to date.
