Job Overview

Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for a Part-Time Cook to join our cafeteria team.  Join a team of professionals committed to improving children's lives.  Our top healthcare professionals excel in their practices and provide compassionate, family-centered care to children who need it most.  Hours:  This is a Part-Time position of approximately 24 hours per week, with more hours available based on departmental needs. Both M-F and Weekend availability desired. 

Responsibilities

The position of cook provides for the preparation and distribution of food to patients, visitors and staff of Shriners Hospitals.

 

 

Practices Serve Safe Sanitation

  • Sanitation according to the guidelines of Serve Safe is practiced at all times.

Prepares Catering Functions and consistently maintains quality

  • Catering functions are prepared on time and to what the customer has ordered

Prepares patient meals in accordance with specific diets and is prepared at meal time

  • Patient meals are made according to their diet and are ready on time for tray line.

Ensures proper temp of all food served in accordance with state and federal guidelines

  • The temp of our food is at acceptable level according to or policy and procedure manual

  • Tally sheets are followed so that extra food is not left over after tray line.

Prepare cafeteria meals according to specific menu

  • Cafeteria males are done on time. There is sufficient backup so that the café does not run out of food.

This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 2 Years Institutional Cooking.
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certificate

Preferred:

  • Hospital cooking experience
