Job Overview

The CMA supports the medical staff in providing care and comfort to patients ranging from infants up to 21 years of age during clinic by performing routine clinical and clerical tasks.  This includes assisting the physicians, obtaining data from the patients and their families and entering that data in the EMR, answering questions of and assisting ancillary personnel, as well as providing care under scope of practice. Specialties include Orthopedics, Spine, Sport Med, Rheumatology, Hand and facial plastics, Endocrinology, Limb deficiency, Neurosurgery and Neurology.  Other exciting opportunities may be provided to work with our Child Life Department that involves multi-disciplinary camps and assisting in other departments as needed.

Responsibilities

The Certified Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record.  The Medical Assistant works with and under the direction of the RN.

Qualifications

 Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and providing personal service for pediatric to adult patients and their families; emergency protocols; knowledge of proper lifting; ability to perceive patient reactions to simple treatments, etc.; customer service.  Experience with casting and Bilingual Spanish speaking is preferred.

 

Hourly wage is based upon experience: $20-$28

 

High school graduate (or equivalent) required

 

Successful completion of a Certified Medical Assistant program required.

                                             

Certification by the American Association for Medical Assistants.

 

Previous experience in Orthopedics as a medical assistant (pediatric setting preferred) a plus

 

BLS certified (or ability to be certified within 3 months)

 

Computer proficiency required (Microsoft applications preferred) and experience in or ability to learn the electronic medical record.
