Shriners Children's is searching for a PRN Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Shriners Children's Shreveport. The ideal candidate will have several years of pediatric and/or orthopedics experience, preferably in an outpatient setting, and be open to covering 1-2 days per week, 8:00am to 4:30pm. 

The certified nurse practitioner (CNP) provides care that requires knowledge and skills obtained from advanced formal education and clinical experience.  The CNP, in collaboration with the physicians and interdisciplinary team, may provide preventive, acute, specialized and primary care services to patients consistent with the nurse’s education and certification. Services provided by the CNP may include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of identified health needs;
2. Ordering and interpretation of diagnostic and/or laboratory tests;
3. Formulating, documenting, and monitoring treatment plans;
4. Routine wound or post-operative dressing management;
5. Ordering interdisciplinary consults;
6. Ordering pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and/or interventions;
7. Assisting with minor clinic procedures;
8. Assisting in the evaluation and workup of the patient, conferring with physician on treatment and follow up

• Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree required
• Current PNP or FNP LA license required
• Current LA RN license required
• DEA license required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. Pediatric Advanced Life Suport (PALS) certification preferred.
• Experience in managing pediatric or orthopedic patients in the outpatient setting required.
• Teaching and training skills, and demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate direct patient care is required
• Proficient computer skills with experience with Epic EHR preferred
• Current full vaccination status required
