Job Overview

We have an opportunity for a PRN Child Life Specialist. 

Responsibilities

The Child Life Specialist assesses and implements teaching and interventions for inpatients and outpatients, including infants, toddlers, school age and adolescent children, in order to assist the patients and families in coping with illness, medical procedures and hospitalization.

  • Provides services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Incorporates a variety of diversion and therapeutic programs, based on Child Life Practice Standards, in a family-centered care environment.
  • Provides opportunities for the patient to gain a sense of mastery of play, for learning, for self-expression, for family involvement and for peer interaction.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field 

Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) 

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of employment 

At least 1 year of related work experience

Possesses an advanced knowledge in child development, the hospitalized child, and family-centered care

Proficiency in therapeutic play techniques as a diagnostic and treatment tool

 

Preferred

At least 1 year of pediatric experience
