The Clinical Data Analyst supports the core functions of the hospital by answering key business questions through data. The analyst will be responsible for Cerner, Epic, Power BI dashboard development, maintenance, and reporting. They will work with organizational staff to promote a data driven culture by drawing insights and making data informed decisions. The Clinical Analyst will support cross-functional stakeholders and work with multiple sources and a wide range of data technologies and systems. To act as a liaison between clinical, technical, administrative and home office staff in regards to the clinical information system.  Hours:  This full-time position will work 40 hours/week and is located onsite in Dayton, Ohio. ****This position is in person and not remote .****

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization's clinical operations, patient populations, and healthcare environment to inform analysis and recommendations.
  • Analyze and interpret clinical data using Epic, Cerner, Power BI and/or statistical software and other tools to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform clinical decision-making, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational strategy.
  • Ability to use a clinical system and train others how to use it.
  • Apply best practice data visualization techniques in developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards.
  • Ability to distill data questions, problem definitions and constraints from business requirements.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of source data from various internal/external systems.
  • Communicate and present findings to a variety of stakeholders with varying degrees of data comfort.
  • Stay current on the latest trends and innovations in clinical data analysis and data visualization and apply this knowledge to continually improve our organization's practices and processes.
  • Responsible for regulatory, State, contractual and grant reporting.
  • Follow all Shriners Children’s policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required trainings as listed in Shrine Learning (both online training and face-to-face training) within required timelines.
  • Perform other duties as required within the scope of the position and the experience, education and ability of the employee.
  • Provide technical support and end user training to our Midwest facilities – Chicago, St. Louis, Twin Cities, Dayton as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS in Business, Nursing, Public Administration, Public Health, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another related field
  •  7 or more years’ experience as a data analyst, business analyst or similar job function
  • 1-2 years experience using data visualizations best practices and developing with PowerBI, Tableau or other similar BI tools
  • Excellent business and communication skills to work with key stakeholders to define business questions and answer those through data
  • Ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and senior management
  • Ability to independently influence and drive outputs, meet deadlines, and set clear expectations and roadmaps

Preferred:

  • Experience working Healthcare Data
  • Experience using SQL, Cerner, Epic
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills
  • Experience with project management software/ServiceNow ticketing system
