Job Overview

Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for an Ultrasound Tech.  This position will utilize ultrasound equipment to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data, using ultrasound equipment to aid the physician in the diagnosis of disease and injury. Responsibilities

  • Maintains and monitors quality assessment practices and procedures to ensure appropriate and proper patient care
  • Accurately interprets oral and written requests stated in radiologic and medical terms
  • Notifies imaging Manager of equipment malfunction and obtains necessary repairs.
  • Performs other operational functions, in support of assigned department to ensure quality services
  • Assists in maintaining imaging files to ensure easy irretrievability in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the preparation of images for interpretation and imaging reports for image file jackets.
  • Assesses patients’ needs prior to performance of examination.
  • Consistent review of prior imaging studies before starting an imaging exam.
  • Directs questions, regarding appropriateness of an ultrasound request to the Imaging Manager, Radiologist or staff physician.
  • Operates and performs ultrasound exams independently according to physician’s orders
  • Assists in the copy request for Shriners Hospital images and images received from outside medical facilities.
  • Monitors assigned quality assessment activities and recording of data in the designated binder as assigned.
  • Demonstrated awareness of the department PACS, RADNET & SHCIS program and its operation.

Qualifications

Required:

Two years related Pediatric Ultrasound work experience

American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

 

Preferred:

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Sonographer (MSK) certification

One year pediatric abdominal ultrasound experience
