Job Overview

Shriners Children's Ohio has an opportunity for a full-time / night shift Acute Care Physician Assistant. Responsibilities

  • The  Acute Care Physician Assistant (ACPA) provides care that requires knowledge and skills obtained from advanced formal education and clinical experience. 
  • The ACPA, in collaboration with the physicians and interdisciplinary team, may provide preventive, acute, specialized and primary care services to patients consistent with the nurse’s education and certification. 
  • Services provided by the ACPA may include, but are not limited to the following: 1) assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of identified health needs; 2) ordering and interpretation of diagnostic and/or laboratory tests; 3) formulating, documenting, and monitoring treatment plans; 4) routine wound or post-operative dressing management; 5) ordering interdisciplinary consults; and 6) ordering pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and/or interventions. 
  • In addition to standard ACPA responsibilities, duties also include the day to day management and development of the physician assistant program at SCH-C.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
  • NCCPA Board Certification
  • Active OH PA license
  • BLS certification. PALS certification required within 3 months of hire
  • DEA certification
  • Advanced practice experience in pediatrics or pediatrics ICU preferred
