Job Overview

Perform a variety of general and preventative maintenance tasks on hospital equipment and facilities to ensure a reliable and safe environment and assist in meeting the engineering department's maintenance goals. Works closely with the departmental director by assisting the engineering director by overseeing that scheduled work duties are followed, competency training, performance improvement, reviews policies, assists director with the hiring process and directs staff during the absence of director.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of electrical codes and practices, ability to read blueprints, purchase proper materials, and complete assignments as per Director's instruction.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and competence to make repairs to the following equipment: Medical gas systems, HVAC systems, nurse
    call systems, plumbing systems, and building.
  • Provides day-to-day supervision and leadership by scheduling routing repairs and preventative maintenance for maintenance
    personnel.
  • Communicates vital information pertaining to hospital activities to Department Director on a daily basis or as needed.
  •  Follows all written and verbal instructions given by Department Director.
  • Informs maintenance personnel of pertinent information pertaining to their job.
  • Orders and maintains sufficient supply of medical gases, ensuring that no shortage occurs.
  • Anticipates, plans, and purchases day-to-day materials used by the department.
  • Makes price checks with vendors semi-annually.
  • Ensures that proper protective gear is used by Maintenance personnel during handling or power tools and chemicals.
  • Reviews MSDS with department personnel prior to new product use.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of hospital safety policies and disaster program.
  • Actively participates in hospital safety drills 95% of the time.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Hospital preventative maintenance (7 yr).
  • 2nd Class C boilers license or the ability to obtain license within 6 months.
  • Swimming pool operator's certification
  • Refrigeration certification
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language, ability to understand and follow specific verbal/ written instructions

 

This position is Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30 pm, no week-ends or holidays.
