Responsibilities

  • The Child Life Specialist is responsible to work with children, from infancy through adolescence, in a family centered care environment.
  • This position provides services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Position requires strong skills in child development, assessment and planning, psychosocial support, procedural support and preparation, group leadership, volunteer supervision and goal directed play. 

This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field
  • Graduation from an ACLP-endorsed child life academic program or successfully completed 10 relevant college courses as outlined by the ACLP
  • Certified Child Life Specialist, or be eligible to sit for the certification exam
  • Completion of child life internship under the supervision of a certified CLS

Preferred:

  • One year’s experience in a hospital child life program
