Job Overview

Effectively performs Radiology Services as required in the treatment of all patients. Ensures quality standards are met and promotes continuous quality improvement. Maintains current knowledge of radiographic technology and equipment.

 

This position is per diem, non-exempt and health insurance eligible. The pay range for this position is $46.75-$66.00/hourly. Compensation is determined based on relevant experience and department equity. 

Responsibilities

  • Routine imaging of pediatrics with emphasis on orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, and burns.
  • Verifies patient identification and confirms radiology order prior to imaging.
  • Communicates the appropriate information and provides assistance and instruction to the patient, family, and co-worker prior to the exam.
  • Obtains correctly positioned radiographs to visualize area of interest as ordered by physician.
  • Utilizes positioning equipment appropriately.
  • Adheres to safety regulations to ensure that all patients, family members and co-workers receive the maximum protection from radiation exposure.
  • Utilizes ALARA as a guiding principle for radiation safety.
  • Utilizes lead shields for patients and family members as needed.
  • Verifies non-pregnancy state for females of child bearing age prior to exam.
  • Removes non-essential persons from the x-ray room prior to generating x-rays.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate operator protection devices and wears film badge
  • Demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment according to the specific operational guidelines, department policies and procedures, and manufacturers' guidelines and radiation standards.
  • Utilizes technique charts and established protocols for exposure and positioning.
  • Adjusts exposure factors and positions x-ray tube head appropriately for each exposure
  •  Documents appropriately and demonstrates proficiency with PACS, RADNET, and the EHR.
  • Complete CD production for outside studies and outside surgeries with appropriate documentation
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for adherence to organizational and departmental standards.
  • Promotes and maintains positive working relationships by effectively communicating with the department team as well as other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Adheres to the ASRT Code of Ethics.
  • Maintains current certifications, attends required in-service training and complies with mandatory education requirements.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to effectively plan, organize and shift priorities to meet patient care and staffing needs.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) licensure
  • BLS
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster

Preferred:

  • Recent work experience with Three-Phase x-ray imaging equipment
  • 1 year of Radiology Technogist experience
  • Rrevious acute care experience as a radiologic technologist using both portable and C-arm equipment
  • Previous pediatric experience preferred
