Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a PRN Occupational Therapist to join our Outpatient team in our Pasadena, California location.

Job Overview

The Occupational Therapist will take an active role in performing assessments, providing treatment to children with orthopedic and/or neuromuscular conditions, and documenting results in the electronic medical record in an outpatient setting. Collaboration with the patient, family, medical staff and entire clinical team will be expected and essential in contributing to high quality care and exceptional patient outcomes. The successful candidate will possess positive energy combined with strong interest in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation.

This position is per diem, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $42.40 - $63.60/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities

  • Upon receiving a referral, implements a systematic patient examination and evaluation
  • Implements a comprehensive treatment plan, using evidence based practice
  • Provides timely monitoring of the response to intervention and makes necessary modifications.
  • Makes appropriate discharge plans by collaborating with patients, their families, care management and community resources.
  • Assesses patient and caregiver educational needs and makes evident effective teaching skills for discharge and home programs
  • Completes accurate and thorough documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy required.  MOT or DOT preferred.

 

Experience

1 year Occupational Therapy experience required

Hand Therapy experience required

1 year of pediatric experience preferred

Must have basic computer literacy for documenting in an electronic medical record. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset are desired traits.

 

Licensure

Must possess current licensure by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and CPR certification.
