Job Overview

Shriners Children's Patient Registrar is the first person to interact with a patient and family. This person represents Shriner's integral customer service values by performing intake, scheduling, and coordinating duties as it relates to a patient's care. This person will also support any additional coordination of care from the various departments within Shriners Hospital to support the wraparound care that we provide for each of our patients. Confidentiality of patient records is required at all times.

 

This position is full time, non-exempt and benefits eligible.  The pay range for this position is $18.00/hour - $22.50/hour.  Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm patient insurance verification and eligibility
  • Monitor patient appointments and information
  • Maintain patient rights by educating patients
  • Responding to patient and patient family complaints
  • Assemble patient medical record forms and prepare patient identification
  • Maintain patient flow and update waiting patients
  • Cancel appointments for patients and documents accordingly in patient electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Obtain patient information from both new and established patients

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum two (2) years clerical experince
  • Experience using MS Office Suite
  • Familiarity with medical and insurance terminology and local community resources
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment (phone, computer, copy machine, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette to interact with fellow staff members, patients, families, agencies and visitors.  Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and data entry.
