Job Overview

Shriners Spokane is seeking a full time Care Management Manager to join the team!  Under the direction and guidance of the DPCS, responsible to administer, promote, develop and coordinate the Care Management department.  Oversees the developmental and implementation of care management services for pediatric patients.  This position works in close coordination with other patient care departments and in close communication with the medical staff in order to best utilize available care management resources in providing quality patient care.  Participants in a multidisciplinary approach to care and provides consultation to the health care team.  The manager is responsible for maintaining a minimum of 20% direct patient care time.  Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are an essential part of this position.  

 

The pay range for this position is $36.03-$61.80/hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Interviews, hires, and recommends termination of employees in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures and in consultation with Director.
  • Assures each staff member undergoes an annual performance evaluation based on their criteria-based job description within specified time-frame.
  • Communicates job duties to staff in a clear, understandable and concise manner, plans, directs and supervised work of assigned staff utilizing positive communications and effective problem solving.
  • Coordinates new employee orientation to department within established time-frames.  Ensures competencies and orientation requirements are completed and documented.
  • Delegates appropriate responsibility and authority to staff according to relevant job descriptions and individual capabilities.
  • Evaluates department staffing/scheduling requirements, taking into account requests for holiday/vacation time; recommends appropriate use of per diem staff.          
  • Monitors, controls, evaluates and reports departmental expenditures for salary, equipment and supplies; reports over/under budget variances and recommends control measures within established time-frames.
  • Participates in the development of operating and capital budgets on an annual basis utilizing historical and projected volume data to determine needs for each individual sub-account.
  • Works effectively as a member of the Management Team to accomplish hospital organizational goals, develop a strategic plan, develop a positive working relationship with the medical staff and to develop positive interdepartmental communications regarding department programs and services.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings to explain administrative and department policies, improve communications, to identify and propose resolution of problems and plan future activities.
  • Develops and implements a department Performance Improvement Program in compliance with the Joint Commission standards for hospital accreditation.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises department policies and procedures, and job description in compliance with regulatory and hospital standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor in Nursing
  • RN licensure in WA
  • 3 years experience in nursing
  • Case Management Certification (CMC, ACM or ANCC), if not currently certified - certification will be required within 12 months of hire/eligibility

Preferred

  • Master's in Nursing 
  • 3-5 years Care Coordination/Case Management experience
  • 5+ years of clinical experience in Pediatrics, Burn care and/or Orthopaedics
  • Experience with utilization review/management with a working knowledge of InterQual criteria
