Schedule: No overnight call, no working weekends, no working holidays!

Assigned on-call up to three times in 2-week pay period (call is designed to provide coverage for cases running late—not considered mandatory over-time). Emphasis on providing work/life balance.*If interested in learning scrub duties, we are willing to train

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a full time Operating Room Registered Nurse. 

Responsibilities

Shriners Children's Portland is seeking a full-time O.R. Circulating RN to join our Operating Room/Surgical Services team! The Circulating RN is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, while circulating pediatric orthopedic and spine surgeries. Shriners Children's Portland primarily performs complex orthopedic procedures, spinal fusions, halo applications, head, neck and ENT procedures.

 

The OR Registered Nurse provides nursing care to our pediatric patients within the operating room, performs assessments and interventions designed to keep the patients safe during surgery.  Our OR team enjoys a quality work-life balance through a 4/10 dayshift schedule with minimal weekend and holiday call.

Qualifications

 

  • Current Oregon RN licensure is required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required
  • Pediatric Advances Life Support (PALS) certification or the ability to obtain within six months of hire is required
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred
  • Two (2) years’ experience working in a main operating room/acute care hospital is preferred
  • Experience working with pediatric orthopedic patients is preferred
  • Experience scrubbing surgical cases is a plus
  • CNOR certification is preferred
  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Flexibility to delegate, prioritize, and adapt in stressful situations
  • Must have the flexibility to alter assignments on short notice and work with diverse personalities and changing situations
  • Ability to work as a role model for staff, demonstrating problem solving skills and nursing best practices
