Job Overview

Shriners Children's Ohio has an opportunity for a PRN Medical Interpreter.  Join a team of professionals committed to improving children's lives.  Our top healthcare professionals excel in their practices and provide compassionate, family-centered care to children who need it most. 

Responsibilities

  • The Medical Interpreter is responsible for providing interpretation and translation services for patients and family members and staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC).
  • Services include listening to, understanding, and interpreting from one language to another, in support of the medical treatment plan.
  • In addition the medical interpreter will provide language and cultural support to patients and families and identify any cultural or language barriers to care.
  • This service will require face-to-face interpreting between patients and providers and may also include family members or patient representatives.
  • The medical interpreter will also be required to provide cultural information to the care team in order to facilitate the creation and adherence to a treatment plan and meet regulatory requirements.

This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bilingual in English-Spanish
  • 1+ year of Medical Terminology

 

Preferred:

  • Medical Interpretation Certification
  • One year experience in clinical medical interpretation
