Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric sub-specialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a Physical Therapist to join our Portland  Rehab team. The Physical Staff Therapist provides evaluation and therapy services including direct patient care, patient/family education and transition of care, in an efficient, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner upon licensed independent practitioner referral.  Works with medical staff  and the multidisciplinary team to design and implement plans of care to meet the needs of the pediatric patients and their family. Responsible for maintaining current knowledge in changes related to scope of practice, coding/billing practices, compliant documentation and any other knowledge related to the compliant practice in a revenue cycle environment.  

Responsibilities

 

  • Upon receiving a licensed independent practitioner referral, implements a systematic patient examination and evaluation utilizing a comprehensive, patient and family-centered approach to decision making incorporating the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) model and the AMA CPT Codes.
  • Demonstrates competency in the examination of the patient to include history and systems review, selection and administration of specific tests and measures to obtain clinical data. Performs an evaluation of patient by making clinical judgments based on data gathered during the examination.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and advanced skills to design and implement a comprehensive treatment plan, utilizing evidence base practice, for patients of diverse ages and diagnoses based on their assessment.
  • Ensures that intervention is compliant with department policy, professional standards of practice and the regulatory guidelines of the state which service is provided.
  • Utilizes language appropriate to patient/family level of understanding, and written or demonstrated methods for exercises/activities, splints and equipment use.
  • Records clinical activity as close as possible to the time care was delivered, only uses abbreviations approved by the facility, is objective and factual using quantitative metrics, and is HIPAA compliant.
  • Assumes responsibility for mentoring non-professional staff, volunteers and new employees. Facilitates positive effective relationships with other employees and serves as a resource for other health-care team members.
  • Holds self and others accountable for maintaining high ethical, professional, and technical standards and core values and integrating those standards into everyday activities.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy. 

Certification/Licensure

Licensed in state of practice 

Skills

1 year physical therapy experience preferred

New graduates considered

Pediatric experience preferred
