Job Overview

The Project Manager will lead and execute key hospital-wide initiatives aimed at improving healthcare quality, advancing health equity, and optimizing operational efficiency. A primary focus of this role is overseeing the MassHealth Health Equity Incentive, which was launched in 2023 to reduce health disparities, improve care for vulnerable populations, and track performance in health equity-related metrics. Additionally, the Project Manager will support various strategic, quality, safety, and population health initiatives across the hospital, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and successful project execution. This position combines project management expertise, data analysis, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive impactful change in patient care and organizational outcomes.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Lead and manage cross-functional hospital projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, timelines, and scope. Oversee project planning, execution, and monitoring, including collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and communicating effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Health Equity Initiatives: Implement strategies to address health disparities and improve access to care for underserved populations. Focus areas include language services, disability care, and health-related social needs screenings.
  • MassHealth Health Equity Incentive: Manage key aspects of the MassHealth Health Equity Incentive, ensuring compliance with program requirements, maximizing its impact, and aligning it with other hospital priorities. Work closely with senior leadership and departments to optimize program outcomes, both operationally and financially.
  • Performance Monitoring & Data Analysis: Monitor and report on health equity-related metrics (e.g., interpreter services, RELDSOGI data, quality outcomes for sub-populations). Manage disparity reduction performance plans and track program performance to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships and engage with internal teams, leadership, and external partners to drive successful implementation of initiatives. Facilitate collaboration across departments to ensure alignment with broader hospital goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement by sharing best practices related to health equity and quality. Foster learning and collaboration across hospital departments and external forums.

Qualifications

Education

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in healthcare project management or a related field.

 

Skills

  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Medicaid populations is preferred.
  • Additional Certifications: PMP Certification preferred. Familiarity with healthcare quality measures (e.g., CMS, TJC) and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma) is a plus.
