Job Overview

The Occupational Therapist provides evaluation and therapy services, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transition of care, in an efficient, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner upon licensed independent practitioner referral.  In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to help our patients through their journey from the moment the child is brought through the door through the time the child leaves to go home.  You'll get to help our kids grow into the new person that they want to be.  You will provide evaluations and therapy services, education and training to meet the needs of our patients.  Join a team of professionals committed to improving children's lives.  Our top healthcare professionals excel in their practices and provide compassionate, family-centered care to children who need it most.   

Responsibilities

  • The Occupational Therapist position provides evaluation and therapy services, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transition of care, in an efficient, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner upon licensed independent practitioner referral.
  • Provides comprehensive compliant and safe clinical care demonstrating the philosophy of family centered care, a commitment to the achievement of optimal patient outcomes in alignment with the standards of practice of their professional organization.
  • Works with medical staff and the multidisciplinary team to design and implement individualized plans of care to meet the needs of the pediatric patients and their family.
  • Functions as a team member and develops leadership skills through activities such as: mentoring, and providing education to students and other professionals.
  • Supports the ongoing development and improvement of the department through participation in special projects, performance improvement and facility committees.
  • Responsible for professional growth and development through ongoing education and research in alignment with hospital’s patient care and strategic direction.
  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge in changes related to scope of practice, coding/billing practices, compliant documentation and any other knowledge related to the compliant practice in a revenue cycle environment.
  • In cooperation with other local leaders, offers exceptional care following the Shriners Hospitals for Children® FOCUSED©™ Program, a system-wide model for professional practice that stresses and emphasizes patient-centered care, or always putting the needs of the patients (and their families first).

Qualifications

Required:  

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy. 
  • OT licensed in state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred:

  • 1 year occupational therapy experience; new graduates considered
  • Pediatric experience
