Job Overview

The Information Systems Pharmacy Manager has system wide responsibility for all pharmacy automation and information systems. Coordinates the configuration and implementation of Shriners Hospitals for Children Information System (SHCIS) which is an Epic Willow based hospital information system. Provide managerial and oversight for all aspects of the medication process including clinical decision support and medication rules development. The Pharmacy Information Systems Manager is an expert in the use of technology to optimize care delivery processes and effectively communicate patient care activity. Specializes in the medication process, from ordering to administration, and is responsible for, development, implementation and support of pharmacy related information systems. This role supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians. Responsible for coordination implementation and integration for the Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC/Omnicell) program throughout the SHC network. The Pharmacy Information Systems Manager works closely with HQ and local leadership, physicians, healthcare quality, nursing, patient safety and other ancillary clinical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage pharmacy related projects with Information Services.
  • Plan, organize, assign, schedule, direct, monitor and evaluate activities and tasks of SHCIS including but not limited to Epic Willow, Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC/Omnicell) initiatives, along with pharmacy billing and charge master requirements.
  • Epic Willow meds Integration implementation and over all knowledge of implementation methodology.
  • Pharmaceutical Clinical Decision Support and Maintenance.
  • Develop implement Patient Safety Dose-Range Checking and Pediatric weight-based dosing.
  • Conduct pharmacy related process redesign workgroups.
  • Develop testing strategies (site specific test plans, functional testing and integration testing).
  • Lead testing initiatives (develop test plans, test scripts) for configuration considerations, Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM's), and Charge Billing.
  • Project manager and implementation lead analyst for Pharmacy related and clinical areas. Work with clinical analysts in support of all current and future pharmacy requirements.
  • Oversee development, documentation, implementation, maintenance and coordination of Pharmacy Informatics related project policies and procedures.
  • Actively involved in detail level design of the application includes developing code sets, screen formats and reports, determining user security access permissions, identifying interface requirements, and developing plans for testing, data conversion, and implementation and user acceptance.
  • Meds Process including order catalog knowledge; Rx masking, virtual view, synonyms, order catalog models to aid in troubleshooting and auditing, designing and building Order Entry Formats.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3 years of Epic Willow build, implementation and operational experience
  • 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience
  • Bachelor's in Pharmacy or related field
