Job Overview

We currently have an opening for a full-time Athletic Trainer to join our Portland, OR team. The Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for the management and provision of care of injuries, as well as teaching preventative measures to avoid injuries, to physically active pediatric students/patients as defined in the state practice act under the direction of a licensed physician.

 

Schedule: Full-time M-F (in-person)

Holidays: 9 observed holidays per year

Compensation range: The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • The Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) will aid in quality care and treatment of patients.
  • Provide athletic training services in sports health and medicine clinics to include; obtain a thorough history, review medical records and documents, orthopedic evaluation, therapeutic exercise teaching and demonstration, assist with coordination of care, provide applicable needs (DME, casting, brace fitting, splinting, and post-operative wound and dressing care assist health care providers in other needs during clinic.
  • Performs all aspects of clinical practice, including being responsible for evaluation and treatment by obtaining medical, surgical and occupational history of athletes according to standardized techniques, departmental standards, and age appropriate guidelines.
  • Demonstrates appropriate clinical decision making in all aspects of clinical practice and determines proper equipment usage, application, and body position/mechanics in the administration of treatment. Is competent in usage of all equipment/modalities standard in the practice of athletic training. Provides patient and family education on home exercises or pre- and post- operative instructions.
  • Complete all appropriate clinical and medical documentation of all care provided in our electronic medical records platform. Maintain HIPPA compliance and patient confidentiality. Assist with clinic management and administration as needed and requested.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (or entry level Masters) in Athletic Training
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer

  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in Oregon, or license eligible

  • 3 years athletic training experience
  • Current BLS by start date (through American Heart Association only)

 

Preferred

  • 3+ years’ experience in the clinical setting acting as a clinical AT/physician extender
  • 1 Year Pediatric experience
