Job Overview

The Director of Research Grants and Sponsored Programs (DRGSP) provides leadership for the development and administration of externally funded grants and contracts and serves as the institutional research compliance officer. The DRGSP plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the sponsored research program, supervises grants staff, disseminates information on external grants and awards, and advises clinical and scientific staff members in preparation and submission of external proposals. This position will report to the Shriners Children’s Vice President of Research.

 

The position is a hybrid and is located in Tampa, Florida. 

Responsibilities

• Negotiating and accepting award terms and conditions
• Preparing subcontracts related to sponsored programs
• Securing audit certifications from intended recipients of subawards
• Ensuring that the PI/PD has obtained all required certifications and assurances (regarding, for example, the use of animals or human subjects in research,biohazards, etc.)
• Serving as a liaison between Shriners Children’s community and the external sponsor regarding non-fiscal grants management issues
• Coordinating the process of requesting budget revisions and no-cost extensions;
• Processing actions that require prior sponsor approval or those allowed by the expanded authorities
• Monitoring report submission
• Coordinating overall non-fiscal grants management
• Ensuring Shriners Children’s researchers concurrence with federal regulations regarding non-fiscal compliance issues
• Collaborating with HQ Fiscal related to project/grant awards and budgets

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Biomedical Science or related field
  • 7+ years experience in NIH and other federal grant and foundation pre-award

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree in related field
  • Experience and preparation to establish, direct and oversee a grants program office and staff
  • Experience with Altum-ProposalCentral and WorkDay
