About Shriners Children’s Philadelphia
Shriners Children’s Philadelphia is where hope and healing meet. Our team of highly specialized physicians provides comprehensive care for children with fractures, sports injuries, orthopedic conditions, scoliosis, spinal cord conditions, and spine injuries.
Provides assistance to the medical staff in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction and other splint or motion devices as ordered. Informs patients/families, staff and students about the use and care of casts and traction devices.
Demonstrates competency in the independent application and/or assistance with the application of a variety of wet plaster, fiberglass, soft casts, cast boots, and cast removal under the direction of the physician.
Responsible for assisting assigned Care Manager with nurse aide skills supporting the medical plan of care, as well as facilitating patient registration and appointment scheduling. Cast Tech will also support the Puerto Rico Clinic in a supporting role as defined by the Director of Outpatient Services. Duties to be assigned by the Care Manager assigned to a specific clinic specialty.
Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, OR
Orthopedic Cast Technician program completions.
One year of experience as Orthopedic Technician, OR
One year of related work experience.
BLS required.
