Job Overview

Job Summary:
Shriners Children’s – Portland is seeking a full-time Intake Coordinator to join the team! This position is responsible for processing and tracking new patient applications, schedules and monitors new patient internal referrals, clinic appointment and changes, and communicates with families and Shrine Centers regarding status.  Triages patient referrals and patient applications by assessing urgency.  Handles inquiries regarding referrals and eligibility requirements.  Maintains databases on activity and prepares statistical reports for Board of Governors, Shrine Centers and Key Volumes reporting.  Attends monthly Applications Committee meeting and provides statistical and patient information.

Responsibilities

  • Processes new patient applications according to Portland SHC standards and procedures. 
  • Communicate with patients families via phone and written notification regarding appointments,denials, requests for additional information, etc.
  • Arranges and communicates new patient appointment schedules and changes.
  • Provide information to staff and to Board to assist in assessing applications.  Also prepares various statistical reports used to monitor new patient.
  • Information is transmitted in a clear, concise manner according to documented standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED, required

Experience

  • 2 Years Administrative Assistant/Clerical in Hospital Setting, preferred
  • 2 Years Customer support in a pediatric medical setting, preferred

Certification and Licensures

  • Basic Life Support (BLS), required
