Job Overview

 

The Medical Staff Services Department Assistant II is responsible to process residents, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students (U.S. and foreign), for on-site rotations and observerships. This individual is also responsible for ongoing professional practice evaluation reports, quarterly physician time studies, practitioner provider enrollment, credentialing assistance, verification requests, and outreach licensure. Provides administrative/clerical support and assistance for Medical Services staff, including but not limited to the Medical Staff Coordinator and Credentialing Specialist.

 

We have an opportunity for a Part-Time, Medical Staff Department Asssistant in our Honolulu Hospital.  This is a non-exempt and benefits eligible position.  The pay range for this position is $19.70 -$24.60/hour.  Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities

  • The Medical Staff  Department Assistant is responsible for processing residents, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical students for on-site rotations and observerships. 
  • Assists to maintain and prepare applications, and credentialing files in accordance with the Joint Commission and Medical Staff Bylaws. 
  • Attends and takes meeting minutes for medical staff committee meetings and Board of Governors meetings.
  • Reviews and supports incoming correspondence and provides other administrative support to the Medical Staff Department as necessary. 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.  
  • Minimum 2 years of clerical and scheduling experience with strong computer skills (MS Office).  
  • Experience in Credentialing is preferred. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with different levels of the organization. Departmental, Administrative and Board of Governors. 
  • Must be able to observe confidentiality at all times.
