Job Overview

Shriners Children’s is looking for a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Shriners Children’s Northern California. This provider will support our Burns and Plastics service and provide care to pediatric patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. Schedule will be day shifts with no nights, weekends, or call. The pay range for this position is $78.33 to $110.59/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient care
    • Perform and document history and physical exams for burn/plastic service patients
    • Develop a plan of care with medical, nursing, allied health and other support staff
    • Order implementation of plan of care, evaluating effectiveness and initiating changes as appropriate
    • Manage acute care conditions that may arise as result of or during the provision of care
    • Perform advanced wound care with sedation
    • Attend and participate in work rounds and team conferences
    • Examine patients daily during their hospitalization
    • Assists with establishing discharge plans, documenting progress and outcomes of inpatient admissions in the discharge summary.
  • Outpatient Care
    • Attend outpatient burns, plastics, and walk in specialty clinics as assigned
    • Obtain and document appropriate health histories and physical exams on burn and plastic surgery patients
    • Order appropriate treatment and/or diagnostic studies for patient conditions in compliance with standardized procedures
    • Educate patients and parents regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow up requirements
    • Plan, coordinate and administer laser treatments to patients

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent degree required
  • ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA (or equivalent) board certification as a PNP or FNP required
  • Active CA RN and APRN license required
  • Active DEA license and ability to receive Drug and Device Furnishing License required
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required.
  • 5 years of burns and/or critical care nursing experience required. New FNP/PNP graduates will also be considered
