Job Overview

Shriners Children’s, the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center, has an opportunity for a Surgical Tech to join our team.

Responsibilities

Scrubs for operative procedures in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), creates and maintains a sterile field, possesses expertise in: sterile technique, infection control, sterilization and disinfection procedures. Performs sponge, sharp, and instrument counts. Demonstrates knowledge of orthopedic procedures and instrumentation required. Checks orders and restocks surgical implant inventory. Performs Central Sterile tech duties as assigned. Applies principles of professional practice model FOCUSED to ASC setting.

  • Sets up sterile field quickly and quietly
  • Assists surgeon and residents with draping
  • Performs preventative maintenance of drills
  • Checks and replaces from stock orthopedic implants

This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required
High school graduate or GED required
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist or military training program required

Preferred
Orthopedic experience preferred
Certification preferred
Ability to work flexible hours, stand for long periods of time, and lift, push or pull over 50 lbs. several times a day
