Job Overview

The IS Project Manager is responsible for leading multiple healthcare IT projects (and/or multiple subprojects of a program) of various sizes and complexity. To be successful the individual needs to demonstrate advanced project management skills ensuring project scope is aligned with the business objectives, customer expectations are established and managed, issues and changes are controlled and escalated as needed. Helps establish project budget, monitors and approves expenditures. Works with software vendor, (Epic, Cerner and others) to ensure that project will be completed on time and within budget. This position requires developing and maintaining relationships with project stakeholders to obtain project objectives as well as mentoring and training individuals within the organization on established processes, templates, and methodology to drive the delivery of “repeatable” consistent results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Project Management - Create and execute project work plans in accordance with the Project Definition Document and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Manage projects through the lifecycle stages. Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders as needed. Meet with customers and internal stake holders to effectively communicate project expectations in a timely and clear manner. Successfully deliver projects on time, on budget and within project scope. Assist in driving project management governance, methods, methodologies, and tool acceptance.
  • Collaboration - Work collaboratively with project stakeholders to develop a comprehensive project plan including: Scope, Schedule, Budget, Communications, Staffing, Risk and Issue Management, Test, and Change Management.
  • Perform Project Planning - Create / build / update project schedules, project definition documents, project plans, status reports, and work breakdown structures.
  • Perform Project Scope Management - Effectively manage project work within the stated scope.
  • Perform Change Management - Create and manage project Change Requests and implement approved requests to achieve project deliverables.
  • Perform Communication Management - Create / implement project organization and communication plans which enable the project team to effectively work together to meet project objectives. Communicate accurate, timely status information to the PMO and stakeholders.
  • Perform Issue & Risk Management - Create RAIDC logs (Risk, Action, Issue, Decision, Changes). Efficiently identify and solve project issues as they arise.
  • Perform Meeting Management - Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes, schedule and lead regularly recurring status meetings, distribute meeting documentation, and maintain and monitor action item listings as necessary. Facilitate and lead meetings and steering committee meetings by being well-prepared and adhering to topics.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5 years of project management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Project Management certification

 

Preferred:

  • PMP certification from PMI
