Job Overview

Under the leadership of the Outpatient Department Manager and the indirect supervision of Physicians, assist with the delivery of patient care in the clinic by maintaining clinic flow, obtaining routine clinical information on patients/family; providing physical care of the patients, procuring and maintaining par levels of clinic supplies and providing light clerical assistance. We have an opportunity for a Full-time  Medical Assistant in our Outpatient Clinic.

 

When directly supervised by an on-site Physician, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) may accept tasks delegated to them by a Physician including:

 

Transcribing of delegated orders into the EMR

Performing minor non-surgical procedures

Administering Topical medications

Obtaining specimens, including performing venipuncture.

 

A CMA may not prescribe medications, therapy services or schedule/perform surgical procedures.

 

Schedule: Full-time Mon-Friday, FTE 1.0 (in-person)

Holidays: 9 observed holidays per year

Compensation range: The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates information to patients, families & colleagues in a clear, concise & professional manner.
  • Responsible for prepping clinic in timely manner to be prepared for that days clinic.
  • Assures that all consult and lab results are available for doctor to review before patient is seen.
  • Assists doctor with delivery of patient care tasks.  Rooms patients, sees new patients, hands out care coordination brochure, & manages clinic flow.
  • Enters all information on intake form in EMR in real time including medication, allergies, height and weight.  Completes depart summary and reviews with family, prints form escorts family to check out and gives family the depart summary.
  • Will participate in on going education of DX and procedures to help with patient education and self knowledge.
  • Utilizes Powerchart and Profile applications to document relevant patient information in real time.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma / GED, Preferred
  • Certificate, Required

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience, Required
  • Pediatric and Orthopedic experience, Preferred
  • Cast removal skills, Preferred
  • Bilingual, Preferred

 

Certification/Licensure

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), (or must require certification within 3 months)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 3 months of hire
