Job Overview

Responsibilities

  • The Patient Access Representative is responsible for check-in and check-out duties, scheduling and rescheduling appointments, coordinating schedules with the clinic and physicians, as well as faxing, making copies, filing and reviewing and responding to department emails. 
  • Additional responsibilities include conducting new patient intake process (diagnostic review, data collection and entry, appointment coordination, and follow-up). 
  • Also involved with coordination of new patient referrals, collection of legal documentation necessary to initiate treatment, coordinating the eligibility and availability of patient’s insurance status with insurance provider in order to ensure applicable coverage. 

This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1 year experience in patient scheduling, registration and intake (referrals)
  • Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Excellent customer service and phone skills

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of EPIC
