We are a premier pediatric specialty, research, and academic teaching hospital with a medical and research partnership with Massachusetts General Brigham. It is the world’s leading center for pediatric burn care and is the only American Burn Association (ABA) exclusively pediatric verified burn center in New England and New York.
Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a full time Medical Interpreter in our Care Management department. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm. The position is onsite.
The Medical Interpreter is responsible for providing interpretation and translation services for patients and family members and staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC). Services include listening to, understanding, and interpreting spoken, or translating written, statements and documents from one language to another, in support of the medical treatment plan. In addition the medical interpreter will provide language and cultural support to patients and families and identify any cultural or language barriers to care. This service will require face-to-face interpreting between patients and providers and may also include family members or patient representatives. The medical interpreter will also be required to provide cultural information to the care team in order to facilitate the creation and adherence to a treatment plan and meet regulatory requirements. |

Medical Interpretation Certification preferred
Experience
Bilingual in English-Spanish; one year of experience required
Minimum 1 year of Medical Terminology preferred
One year experience in clinical medical interpretation preferred
