Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a Part Time PRN Patient Care Assistant II in our Outpatient Department

 

Closed weekends and major holidays. We observe nine holidays: New Year, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

 

Parking is paid for by Shriners, at no cost to the employee.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) assists physicians, RN’s and members of the interdisciplinary team by performing assigned tasks under the supervision of the physician and/or Specialty Care Clinic Manager. 

  • The PCA II rooms patients, obtains vital signs for pediatric patients infant to 21 years with orthopedic, reconstructive plastic and rehabilitation conditions dependent on location.
  • The PCA II gathers and documents patient’s clinical information as provided by patient/parent/legal guardian.
  • Performs procedures in accordance with state guidelines and regulations.
  • The Patient Care Assistant II is also the initial contact for all patients and families visiting the Outpatient Department.

This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 6 months

 

Preferred:

  • Nursing Assistant preferred
  • 1 year pediatric care preferred
