The Medical Assistant assists nurses with the delivery of patient care by maintaining clinic flow and obtaining routine clinical information on patients. Performs / assists with routine physical care of patients, obtains and maintains clinic supplies, provides light clinical assistant.
At least one 8 hour shift per week, scheduled between Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
•Introduces self to patient/family placing them at ease with upcoming procedures, exams, etc.
•Obtains patient vital signs (height, weight, temperature, head circumference 24 month of age) and charts in the EMR.
•Recognizes variance from normal and reports to RN.
•Demonstrates an understanding of the policies and procedures required by the job including but not limited to:
-->Escorts patient/family to exam room/ancillary departments.
-->Prepares patient for exam or procedure (e.g. gown, shorts, casting needs).
-->Competent in application of orthotics with RN supervision.
-->Assists RNs and physicians in cast removal and application procedures.
-->Assists physicians while examining patients when RNs are unavailable.
