Job Overview

The Patient Care Assistant / CNA assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.  The PCA provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned.  Consistently demonstrates caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families.  Assists with wound and skin care, keeps unit and work areas stocked, and provides delegated nursing care activities as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient care including personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility, ambulation, comfort and rest.
  • Orients the patient and family to the patient care areas and assists them to feel comfortable with their surroundings.
  • Provides delegated nursing care activities and assists the caregiver as appropriate in daily care, oral hygiene, weights, I&O's.
  • Takes part in the discharge process under the direction of the RN.
  • Keeps unit and work areas stocked appropriate tot he number, acuity and age of patients currently present including PPE.
  • Seeks opportunities to assist others when assigned work is complete.
  • Provides wound and skin care under the direction of the RN, as appropriate for assigned unit.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma / GED required

 

Certification/Licensure

Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) required

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) BLS required

 

Experience

One year of pediatric experience preferred
