Job Overview

The Respiratory Manager is accountable for overall management of Respiratory services for inpatient and outpatients.  Hires Respiratory Therapist; insures staff competency; participate in ongoing staff development activities; evaluates performance of staff; directs ongoing evaluation of safety and quality of patient care; develops annual operating and capital equipment budgets in accordance with organizational and patient care needs; plans and controls staff and supply utilization within allocated funds; collaborates with administrative, medical and interdisciplinary staff in the analysis and improvement of programs systems and staff development; provides direct patient care as necessary.

 

Schedule: Full-time (1.0 FTE)

Holidays: 9 observed holidays per year

Compensation range: The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.

 

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, hires, and recommends termination of employees in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures and in consultation with the Director
  • Communicates job duties to staff in a clear, understandable, and concise manner; plans, directs, and supervises work of assigned staff utilizing positive communications and effective problem solving skills
  • Evaluates department staffing/scheduling requirements, taking into account requests for holiday/vacation time; recommends appropriate use of per diem staff
  • Communicates in an appropriate and timely manner with Director; seeks input, provides accurate information and makes recommendations for policy and/or practice change
  • Monitors appropriate quality indicators; identifies real problems and issues
  • Keeps informed of recent developments and trends in the field
  • Ensures patient care equipment is not responsible for any hazard or injury to a patient or staff through ongoing preventative maintenance as outlined by policies and procedures

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Respiratory Therapy preferred
  • Certificate Respiratory Therapy preferred

Experience

  • 3 years Pediatric Critical Care required
  • Knowledge of Respiratory Care Practice Guidelines required

Certification and Licensures

  • National Board for Respiratory Care required
  • RT License in state of practice required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
